Max Foundation shares best practices with sector

Together with the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) and the Horizontal Learning Center (HLC) in Bangladesh, Max Foundation organized a workshop in January to share its best practices from the field.

Around 40 people joined the meeting from diverse HLP development partners and some Max-WASH programme partners and guest organizations, such as Action Against Hunger, Angkur, BRAC,  Breaking the Silence, BTS, Care Bangladesh, Center for Disability in Development, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Development News Bangladesh, EPRC, ESDO, GWA, HELVETAS, HLC, HYSAWA, JICA, Media Professionals Group, PRIP Trust, Shushilan, SPACE, UP Helpline, UPHL, VERC, World Bank.

One of the objectives of the workshop was to introduce Max Foundation as a non-governmental organization in Bangladesh that prevents child mortality and wants to provide as many children as possible with a healthy start in life. But most importantly, Max Foundation wanted to share their experiences from the field and present 7 of their best practices:

1)      Maxi basin
2)      Women bathing chamber
3)      12-step Latrine
4)      Piped water scheme
5)      Child growth chart
6)      Total sanitation coverage (or 100% improved latrines)
7)      Stunting Free Village

The result of the workshop is that Max Foundation will - together with the other development partners - scale up the best practices in appr. 180 unions in the upcoming months. Also, NILG will incorporate best practices in their training manuals which are designed for Union Parishad elected bodies.
