Walking for Water, March 18th 2015

On the 18th of March, 2000 students of Dutch national and International Schools (including schools in Topeka, Kansas, USAwill participate in de “Walking for Water” event. We are looking forward to sunny weather because walking 6 kilometers while carrying 6 liters of water in a backpack is an exceptional achievementThis experience helps these students understand what many children of their age in developing countries must do every single day.

With the money raised these students ensure that Bengalese classmates will have proper  sanitation and safe water in near future. Just like last year we will be able to install water wells and latrines at schools and children will be educated about hygiene. Thanks to the participating students, these children will be protected against unnecessary waterborne diseases which could lead to school absence or even worse, child mortality.

We wish the students of St. Nicolaasschool en De Beurthonk in Odijk, de Barbaraschool en de Anne Frankschool in Bunnik, De Delteykschool en De Werkhof in Werkhoven,  De Mauritsschool in Nieuwegein, De Vijverhof en de Essesteijn in Voorburg, De Archipel, De Eerste Montessorischool, De European School, de International School of The Hague in Den Haag, IPS Violenschool in Hilversum an enjoyable walkWe would like to thank the teachers, parents involved and Rotaries BunnikNieuwegeinVoorburg and Topeka (US) for their help and kind support!
