Alpona's story

Mrs. Alpona is a traditional birth attendant in Chowrashi in the south of Bangladesh. Our local colleagues trained her to give better support during and after deliveries. In Bangladesh, many children still die during delivery. Mrs. Alpona: “Before the training I couldn’t always recognize the danger signs during pregnancy. Thanks to the training I know now when I need to refer pregnant women to the doctor.”
