The Board

The board of Max Foundation is relatively small and consists of four volunteers. Once a month the board has a meeting, but they work closely with our operational team.

Joost van de Meent - Chairman

Joep van Belkom - Treasurer

Joep had various financial management and executive positions, most recently as CFO at Schoenenreus. Since 2010 he works as a self-employed senior interim professional. He mainly fulfills assignments where change and a different mindset are required.

Olivier Coops - Fundraising

Olivier has always worked in the care sector. Since 2006 he has been active as an entrepreneur and co-founder of Youmedical. He established his own company called Dinst, providing senior services. With the idea of "starting a business, improving the world", Olivier sees many opportunities for companies and NGOs. "I have seen with my own eyes how proud people in the “Max villages” are about their knowledge of hygiene and good nutrition. We are really able to change people's behaviour. That, in my eyes, is the basis of Max Foundation’s success."

Miriam Klinkenberg - Payment by Results specialist

Miriam's place in the board followed logically after her impressive work in one of our projects in Bangladesh. Since 2017, Miriam applies her knowledge in supply-chain management and her extensive experience within Unilever to the implementation of our Payment by Results (PBR) approach. The Max-PBR project is unique and a true innovation for the Nutri WASH NGO sector. Miriam is driven to explore the humanitarian sector and constantly looks for the challenge to combine the private sector with the humanitarian world.

Nico Terra - WASH specialist

Nico Terra joined the Board of Max Foundation in 2015 and is inspired by the business-like approach of the Foundation and the focus on sustainability of the services provided. Nico has many years of experience in international cooperation and large-scale programs in the field of water and sanitation for the poorest in Africa and Asia. He has been the director of IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre in The Hague. He has also been responsible for the post-2015 strategy and fundraising of the Dutch WASH Alliance, an alliance of a large number of Dutch, African and Asian NGOs in the field of water and sanitation. Nico lives in Amsterdam, is married and has three adult daughters.
